Tea Party tribute for all ages at Moxley
15 May 2017
An intergenerational community event will be held in Moxley this week to raise awareness of dementia and of local facilities, to mark Dementia Awareness Week 2017.
Colleagues and volunteers at Moxley Court, on Sutton Road, Wednesbury, will host a Vintage Tea Party, with funding from the National Lottery through a grant from the Big Lottery Fund, for all members of the Moxley and wider community.
Dawn Northwood, Business Development Project Officer for Accord Care & Support, said: “I am so proud that our colleagues at Moxley Court have come up with the idea of highlighting awareness of dementia through holding a lovely vintage tea party.
"The aim of the party is to bring everyone together, young and old and everyone in between to encourage understanding and to talk amongst peers about the small things that could make a difference to people living with dementia in their community.”
Highlights of the tea party, which will be held on Thursday 18 May from 1pm-3.30pm, include information on the dementia Memory Clubs which are held across the Borough; displays on Moxley Court & the Moxley People’s Centre; as well as quizzes and fun challenges about dementia.
Entertainment will be provided by local school choirs, and tea and refreshments will provided for all. Greg Westwood, Funding Manager for the West Midlands at the Big Lottery Fund, said:“It’s great to see our National Lottery funding bringing people of all ages together in Moxley. The tea party promises to be a lovely celebration, helping to raise awareness of the local facilities available to people living with Dementia.”
