Accord Housing Association is celebrating after one of its employees won a prestigious Women In Housing Award.
Margaret Wilkinson was named Consultant of the Year at the awards held this month. The award recognises consultants who make a crucial contribution in housing.
The awards, organised by leading weekly housing sector publication, Inside Housing, highlight the amazing work and achievements of the many women who make a major impact within the social housing sector and within communities
Margaret is Head of Planning for Real, which empowers local people to design and run programmes of community engagement, so that their voice can be heard on topics such as neighbourhood planning, new housing and regeneration projects and the provision of services.
Margaret, who has worked in the housing sector for more than 30 years said: “I’m still in shock at winning this award, as I really didn’t expect it; to be shortlisted for the award alongside so many other amazing women was an honour in itself, and I am so grateful for this recognition.”
Sara Woodall, Executive Director of Homes and Communities at Accord added: “This is a fantastic achievement for Margaret, who is an incredible inspiration to us all and to the communities she works with, and she has made a real positive difference to the lives of thousands of people. Margaret has previously been a real unsung hero and it’s great at last that she’s won this national award.”
